Bangladeshi filmmaker Nurul Alam Atique has earned international recognition as his film Manusher Bagan received the Best Feature Film on Social Subject Award at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival in New Delhi on 19 May 2026. The award was received by Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner to India Preeti Rahman on behalf of the director and the film team during the post-closing award ceremony at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.

The achievement marks another milestone for the growing wave of contemporary Bangladeshi cinema, which has increasingly gained attention at major international festival circuits including Cannes, Busan, Toronto and Rotterdam.

Produced by Impress Telefilm, Manusher Bagan revolves around people from different social classes and features a title song performed by the band Chirkutt, with lyrics by Nahidur Rahman Ananda.

Atique earlier drew attention with television fictions such as Choturtho Matra, while his debut feature Dubshatar signaled his cinematic ambitions. After a long break from filmmaking, two of his films, Pearar Subash and Lal Moroger Jhuti, have already been released. The director is hopeful that Manusher Bagan will also resonate strongly with audiences.
