The 83rd Golden Globe Awards spread the spotlight across bold cinema and ambitious television, with One Battle After Another and Adolescence emerging as the night’s biggest winners. Paul Thomas Anderson’s sharp political satire collected four awards, including best musical or comedy film, along with directing and screenplay honors. In the drama category, Hamnet, a portrait of William Shakespeare’s private life, secured top film honors and earned Jessie Buckley a best actress Globe.

On the television side, Adolescence led all series with four trophies. The Netflix-backed limited series, told in a single continuous shot, won best limited or anthology series, while its cast made history with multiple acting wins, including a record-breaking victory for 16-year-old Owen Cooper.

Genre distinctions once again shaped the Globes, separating drama from comedy or musical categories. Warner Bros. Discovery enjoyed a strong evening thanks to One Battle After Another and hospital drama The Pitt, which was named best TV drama series. Hollywood satire The Studio took best comedy series.

Acting awards reflected a wide range of stories and tones. Timothée Chalamet finally claimed his first Globe after four previous nominations, winning best actor in a comedy for Marty Supreme. Rose Byrne, Wagner Moura, Noah Wyle, Rhea Seehorn, Seth Rogen, Jean Smart, Michelle Williams, Teyana Taylor, and Stellan Skarsgård were also among the night’s winners.

Hosted for the second year by Nikki Glaser, the ceremony mixed sharp humor with visible political awareness. Several attendees used the platform to address social division and call for empathy. The Globes also marked new ground by honoring podcasts for the first time, awarding top honors to Good Hang With Amy Poehler.

International and genre cinema found recognition as well, with Brazil’s The Secret Agent winning best international feature, KPop Demon Hunters taking animated feature and original song, and vampire drama Sinners winning best cinematic and box office achievement.
